Most of you all know about the new series "Going Ape" being aired in UK now which features CWAF, LWC and Sanaga Yong. Apparently it is getting the highest ratings for any AP show to date. Animal Planet in USA/Canada however isn't sure they will air it here. Their fear is this program may be too rough for the American audiences. Why they feel this way I am not sure since just about at any given time of day one can find porn or violence on the cable stations. I have seen some of the production prior to the editors table and yes it is more unforgiving than the Growing Up Gorilla program however nothing I wouldn't recommend or show my own family. I also don't know what reaction or help emailing Discovery asking to air this series here will do but the action is worth my time. If anyone else feels the same, please email them too.
This production took over a year to accomplish. To not have it air in one of the most richest countries in the world would be shameful. These sanctuaries need this publicity in hopes of generating more donations and awareness, especially since each one is at capacity with orphaned babies arriving regularly.

Comments There is a program being aired now in the UK - Animal Planet station called Going Ape. The sanctuary headlining this program is the same sanctuary which was from your Growing up Gorilla program. From what I understand, the Going Ape is expected to be the most viewed program for AP in the UK to date however, North America/USA are on the fence about airing this for fear it may be too hard hitting. If there is any truth to this statement, please reconsider and air this 13 part series in the USA/Canada. There are a great many people who would rather learn more about the environment and conservation efforts than porn or general street violence which doesn't seem to have a problem finding its way on to our television channels. This program Going Ape would have incredible ratings, many of the volunteers which have traveled to Cameroon working at these sanctuaries are from USA/Canada - me being one of them. With over 700 gorillas in captivity in our zoo's across NA/USA, there are many keepers and zoo staff who would also appreciate the attention this show deserves. And more importantly the gorillas and other primates discussed in this production need our support. Thank you.
